Field Log // Most deserts are composed of quartz, but this 275 mile stretch of tumbling sand is gypsum and calcium sulfate. The terrain is easier on Bettyā€™s well-tread tires, as it reflects sunlight rather than absorbing it and swiftly evaporates surface moisture. It is splendidly cool to the touch.
